Forest’s history

The history of Forest dates back to the pre-war era when its extraordinary journey began in the picturesque town of Gorlice. In 1934, during the times when the world was gripped by the Great Depression, the idea was born to transform an industrial factory that would contribute to the development of wooden product manufacturing.

In those days, employees would enter the gates of Forest, ready to work and help advance the wood industry. They walked with their bicycles and carts, traversing the plant grounds, where the smell of freshly processed wood was omnipresent. Initially, the factory specialized in producing simple wooden products to meet local needs.

Then came the period of World War II, which brought many difficulties and changes. Despite these challenges, the plant survived by adapting its production to wartime needs. After the war ended, in 1945, Forest came under the management of the State Forests Directorate in Tarnów, which provided new development opportunities.

The 1940s brought international recognition to the plant when Forest fulfilled an order for hangers for the British passenger liner “Queen Mary”. This event made the plant a significant player on the international stage and confirmed its ability to execute complex projects.

In the following decades, Forest continued its expansion, developing its range of products and technologies. The 1970s posed a challenge in the form of a flood, but the determination of the employees allowed the plant to survive and continue to grow.

Since the 1980s, the Forest plant has become a symbol of innovation and continuous development. By introducing modern technologies and production processes, the plant remains a leader in the industry, supplying high-quality wooden products to both domestic and international markets.

Today, Forest Gorlice sp. z o. o. is not only a manufacturing facility but also an important part of the local community, engaging in various initiatives for the residents and the environment. Its history is full not only of successes and challenges but also of the determination and passion of the people who have co-created this extraordinary story over the years.
